Dear Yuletide Writer,

Here are some prompts and likes, hope you will find something you enjoy. If you see another story happening, please absolutely follow your muse! I very sincerely want you to have a good time writing!

Likes:

• flawed characters with a sense of humor
• pining and UST
• competence kink
• identity porn | bodyswap | assumed identity
• mundane details in a magical setting
• getting snowed in and winter holiday fic are great!
• so are the 'didn't know they were dating' + 'fakeout makeouts' + 'pretend couple' tropes
• a general atmosphere of adventure
• Lovecraftian/cosmic horror with humor elements
• messy, complex relationships with happy endings (conventional or not)
• relationships that happen when characters are extremely emotionally vulnerable
• underused POVs and trope reversal are the cat's pajamas!
• gen is yay, but plotty stories with a helping of romance/smut are what I probably enjoy the most

Porn likes:

• sex that happens when characters are extremely emotionally vulnerable - I ADORE THIS
• people who can't get enough of each other | sexual desperation
• m/f long foreplay and partially clothed sex
• m/f breast and general body worship; multiple o's
• m/m oral, deepthroating, and gentle breathplay (a hand on neck or someone choking on a cock)
• m/m enthusiastic rough sex with tender moments
• m/m manhandling, holding someone down, or pinning them to a wall
• sex at the risk of getting caught
• sex in confined spaces (like a coat closet or a car)
• getting turned on or coming during fakeout makeouts
• dubcon : drunk/sex pollen/sex magic
• voice/accent kink (without phonetic spelling, please; I'm more into characters thinking that, for example, they kink on a particular accent or voice quality rather than seeing it spelled out in live dialog)
• desperate, fumbling, awkward sex that isn't a perfect ride from start to finish, but ends up amazing

Please, no:

• eye injury
• noncon
• BDSM or props
• erotic humiliation
• mpreg
• unrequested modern/mundane AUs
• asexual, aromantic, demi or genderswapped characters for my requested pairings
• reader inserts
• see specific dislikes for each fandom below

R I V E R S • O F • L O N D O N

Peter Grant, Thomas Nightingale:

• I'm into the humor - and the danger that infuse those books
• I'm into how awkward Peter and Nightingale are in the presence of anyone's feelings (including their own)
• And I'm especially into the mutual curiosity and spark between these two people from very different times and backgrounds
• I love that Peter is all about a fresh approach: from policing by consent to the magical science
• I love that Nightingale is a magical equivalent of an all-around star athlete
• I like the thought of them having a largely spontaneous emotional and sexual relationship where both take charge depending on the mood
• The constraints of their professional relationship and a difference in rank/power imbalance largely don't interest me, but I'm all about their (real or biological) age difference and them being from different generations!
• The Folly crew (former and future: Toby, Molly, Leslie, Varvara, Abigail) are more than welcome in the story! extra, extra love for some Folly worldbuilding and daily life

prompts:

• Nightingale is aging backwards and Peter's aging rate is unknown. Will they eventually meet somewhere in the middle? What if the age difference is quite the reverse of what it is now?

• We know that Peter has such a massive crush on Nightingale's magical abilities and expertise and that he boggles at the mix of Nightingale's old-fashioned and modern habits; I would love some private insight into what Nightingale thinks of Peter's flavor of magic. And of Peter's modern ways.

• Peter discovers a book of sex magic in the depths of Folly. He tries it on Nightingale, ~for science! Anything can happen!

• An unexpected bodyswap right before an important public/family event/high-stakes case resolution. Would it make their magic get all wonky? How would this experience influence Peter's later magical growth? Exploring their swapped bodies in private or together is a big sexy plus here.

• They are pretending to be married while visiting a picturesque and extra creepy Stepford-esque Village on a case. Another trope I adore, with all its awkward moments, emotional confusion, and fakeout makeouts - I adore this last trope so, so much. Again, the more ridiculous this gets and the more public, the better!

• They didn't know they were dating! The longer and the more ridiculous it goes on the better. Especially if one of them suspects that they are, in fact, dating, but for whatever reasons remains silent.

• What about the Ferrari GTO that Nightingale practically gifts Peter in The Hanging Tree? I'd be interested a bottle-episode fic that only happens inside the car? Or on it ;) For some magical reasons!

• Obviously, I'd love all the sex! In case you wish to write all that sex, there's a huge list of my porn likes above.

• If you would rather write casefic or gen, it's all good! I'm really into the idea of them tackling a scary modern urban legend or stumbling into something Lovecraftian/cosmic horror - I enjoy darker stories when they have some comedy elements.

• I'm also extremely fond of winter holiday fic and of the thought of the Folly snowed in and its crew being festive - or macabre! - in their own way.

please, no: poly, OT3, or love triangle in this fandom; mundane AUs where everyone is non-magical

Dickie Greenleaf, Peter Smith-Kingsley, Tom Ripley

• What I enjoy the most about the Ripley universe is that how it's populated with the morally fluid characters. I'm fascinated with identity porn and the mental acrobatics that go with it, and I'm super into dangerous, often closeted passions - especially in beautiful settings.

• I love it when stories have a sense of a place or detail, so if you're feeling like going into descriptions of Italian old stones or the 50s fashion or everybody's decor (and how it reflects on their character) - absolutely not a must, so don't let it put you off - but even a little of it would be much appreciated.

• I requested three characters, but you don't have to include all three in your story. I could be interested in either Dickie/Tom, Dickie/Peter, or Peter/Tom - I just can't choose which character combination or pairing I want more!

So, I will talk about how I love each of them:
• Dickie is wild, selfish, and gorgeous (seriously, Jude Law at his peak prettiness), his smile just rips your heart out of your chest and it hurts - and yet you're so stupidly in love with him,
• Peter is dreamy gentle and understanding and yet there's so much real strength and lucidity to him - I just adore him and he deserves a better fate!
• Tom gets so tangled up in the sticky murderous web of his own stories, up until he doesn't know who he really is anymore - and yet you always root for him to get lucky.

• I would not like to receive a happy poly dynamic with these three characters. Unless there's infidelity and/or jealousy are involved - then I'd love a messy love-sex-obsession triangle!

prompts:

• If you'd rather write gen than pairings or if you want to throw all three of them together in a messy triangle, I've always wondered what would happen if all of them went to Cortina that winter - and got snowed in, for days. I'm hoping for the murder and relationship drama in another gorgeous place!

• How did Dickie and Tom spend their time when everything was mostly golden and just a little wrong? That bath scene, their late nights at home, Dickie being gorgeous and playing dangerous games, Tom getting a little too close for comfort but never getting everything that he wants (just a tease) - I want more! More danger, more innuendo, more pining and sexual desperation, more mind games on both sides.

• I'm DYING to know what happened between Dickie and Peter. How far did it go? Why was Dickie drawn to Peter in the first place? Did Dickie stir up something wild in Peter as well - or was it Peter who briefly brought out the best in Dickie? What about their class differences: Peter doesn't seem to be well-off but he seems to be exceptionally well-bred - does Dickie have aspirations or insecurities of his own when it comes to class? Or would he not care for class at all? Peter seems so attractively at peace with his sexuality - how would it have affected his relationship with Dickie? If you could explore any of this or give you own take, I'd be so into it.

• As for Peter and Tom, I'm a total baby about this: please let Peter live if you can. As I am not sure Tom can truly change into a "better" man, I would enjoy reading about how Peter is handling Tom's truths and untruths. Tom might not always be bound to commit murder in all versions of his life story, but he has a darker side than most. I want all the complications here!

• Sexual undertones or sex are more than welcome if you want to go there. I especially have a thing for a combination of Peter's posh accent and rough sex, for Dickie's showboating and need for attention, for Tom revealing more of his darker side between the sheets.

• I don't mind if you give any of these pairings a different ending! They don't have to be doomed. And please be kind to Marge and Meredith :)

please, no: detailed descriptions of nominated characters' deaths; polyamory (but a love triangle is great)

Su Li-zhen (Mrs. Chan), Chow Mo-wan

• This is such an intriguing groundhog-day universe: of feeling alone among loud people and of eating ramen with a man who isn't one's husband, of the haunting music and of those breathtaking dresses. And it's simply bursting with the things unsaid. So much that a main character makes a journey to a faraway temple to whisper his secret out loud, at last.

• I so very much enjoy the cyclic storytelling of this movie, where the very few locations barely change but for the weather. However, our characters' inner lives are so different from one day to another, so it colors the way we look at essentially the same scenes - over and over, but never the same.

• While people in their lives are often doing ugly things, it's almost like Su and Chow survive by focusing on the beauty in the mundane. I swear, those saturated colors become even more intoxicating as Su and Chow's feelings and sexual tension grow.

• What draws me to rewatch this movie, again and again are the darker undercurrents to its main romantic relationship. The director, Wong Kar-wai, said that if Maggie Cheung and Tony Leung weren't so beautiful, the audience would have easier time seeing a kinkier side to their characters.

prompts:

As this is a movie about missed connections and a twisted kind of fantasy, I would love to get a story about either of these things:

• How about Su and Chow don't miss their connection? The movie opens with a poem: It's a restless moment. - She has kept her head lowered - to give him a chance to come closer. - But he could not, for lack of courage. - She turns and walks away. --- I believe it's true for both of them in turns, and I kept hoping that they'd gain this courage and become masters of their fates - rather than remain boxed in by other people's expectations and by their spouses' infidelity.

• Or, I'd love a more in-depth story about how Su and Chow roleplay their cheating spouses and try to deal with the adultery committed by others. The seductive magic of the movie is in these conversations where it's unclear what's the truth and what's the playacting, in hiding from the nosy neighbors, in a stifling hothouse beauty of small Hong Kong spaces. It seems like a fantastic opportunity to explore some of my favorite tropes: pretending to be married or fakeout makeouts.

• Or, maybe when Su and Chow are finally together, they keep acting out fictional scenarios with random or movie couples because they both find this exciting, sexually or emotionally? I'm down for both lighter and darker takes on it as long as they get their happy ending, conventional or not.

• What if their martial arts comic strip turns out a huge success? This is something that they created together, as themselves.

• Some sensuality or graphic sex would be amazing and so satisfying after the movie that consists almost entirely of wistfulness, loneliness, and pining, but obviously you don't have to if it doesn't feel right within the story!

please, no: no AUs; I didn't see the semi-sequel to it, 2046, so I hope it's ok if we ignore it.
